Birthday weekend...

No crafting this week has been accomplished, but its been my birthday weekend! And I hit the big 40!!

Friday morning started with a trip to a new local cafe, where we had breakfast.

I even got a candle in my croissant!

I had some beautiful pressies to unwrap!

I was given a wonderful stash of gifts!

And some amazing soft, cosy, comfy DM's

We had a lovely autumnal walk, kicking through the leaves in my new boots!

For lunch, a simple but my favourite sandwhich, 'cheese + pickle'

Followed by a yummy chocolate muffin!

We got ready to go out in the evening

A local Italian restaurant that we hadn't tried before.

I chose a starter of Breaded Mozzarella, in a tomato sauce.

For my main course I had Ricotta + Spinach Raviolli, in Brie, cream and sun-dried tomato sauce.

And finished with an Italian chocolate mousse

It was an amazing meal, and I left totally over-full but happy!

On Saturday I got my hair dyed, ready for our joint party in the evening.

We had a great spread, and a disco at a local pub.

The drink flowed, and I boogied the night away.

Despite a poor turn out, we made the best of our night, and had fun!

Sunday was a much needed chill out day, before a week of work commences again!

Unravelled....

So this week I completed my green scarf from last week.

I finished the picot edging along the long lengths and did a scalloped edging at the ends.

I then started my next scarf. I had some lovely 'sirdar' yarn called Escape, which has some beautiful tones to it, and I chose to work in cell stitch, to add some texture.

My concentration hasnt been too good though, so I ended unravelling as much as I was knitting!

I had decided on knitting some scarves to bulk out my craft stall, and to use up some of the nice yarns that I have had stored away. But sadly the restrictions of retail in the christmas season has put paid to me doing any craft fairs which i'm very frustrated about. So I ground to a hault as I lost my focus to what I was working towards.

After watching the first episode of 'Kirsties' latest series i've now decided to focus on 'our' home. Actually make things for us, and brighten up the space around us. This will also ensure that the crafting will be more relaxing and leisurely, rather than working to deadlines, which I definately need at this hectic season. I can still photograph these pieces and put them up on Etsy.
I've not decided what the first project will be as yet, so join me another time to see where the journey will lead to next....

Wooly warmers...

I've not completed much in the way of crafts this week as my day job does tend to take up alot of my time and energy!

This week i've gone back to knitting, which i have to say felt quite wierd, using 2 needles instead of a single hook!
I used one of my fancy yarns and just knitted a basic stocking stitch length.

But I intend to make it more special by adding a crochet edging (yes crochet had to work it's way in there somehow!)

I've done a picot edging along the length, and I intend to do a scallop edging at the ends, which I will reveal on next weeks post.

We actually made it to a local fireworks display this year, and it was most enjoyable.
*bang* *whizz* *whee* - *ooh* *aaah*

I have booked myself on to a 'needle-felting' half day course, in a couple of weeks time, which I'm really looking forward to. It's something i've wanted to try for ages, and even after purchasing the tools I haven't been too sure as to where to start, so hoping this will give me a helping hand.
